Loughborough celebrates new partnership with Bajaj Auto

Loughborough University has signed a three-year partnership with Bajaj Auto, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of motorcycles and three-wheeled vehicles.

The collaboration will see selected employees from the company – based in India – join the University to study for a master’s degree.

It is also hoped, over the course of the partnership, there will be opportunities for students from Loughborough to undertake work placements with Bajaj Auto.

The first cohort of Bajaj Auto employees will arrive at the campus this month (September), joining the School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering and Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering.

Loughborough’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Robert Allison, said: “We are delighted to enter a partnership with Bajaj Auto, and look forward to welcoming their employees to campus this year to begin postgraduate studies with us. We are very excited by this opportunity to work closely with Bajaj Auto over the coming years.”

Rajiv Bajaj, the Managing Director of Bajaj Auto added: “Bajaj Auto will sponsor a select group of its high performing engineers each year to a master’s program at Loughborough to learn of the latest developments in automotive technology on the back of live company projects.

“As much as the UK was a natural fit for us, Loughborough was the obvious choice given my experience, over several visits, of its outstanding faculty, elaborate facilities, deep research and magnificent campus, including sports and social activities.

“I am grateful to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Robert Allison, and his team for this opportunity and I am certain that over the years this initiative will be at the core of our endeavour to build the next line of global leadership at Bajaj Auto.”

Bajaj Auto was founded in 1926 and is the flagship company of the Bajaj Group. The Group has numerous business interests spanning automobiles, home appliances, lighting, iron and steel, insurance, travel and finance.
