Martin Dawkins

On Thursday 15 March 2018 one of our colleagues in SDC (Sports Development Centre) Martin Dawkins, sadly passed away.

Martin had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and after years of living a full and happy life with his diagnosis, he came to rest at home with his wife and passed away peacefully.

Martin was a well-respected member of the SDC team, always with a smile on his face and an eagerness to improve things in whatever way he could.

Martin didn’t let his brain tumour stop him in any way. During his illness, he continued to not only work and volunteer, but also to run a marathon raising money for others as he did.

Martin will be long remembered by not only the team in SDC but by the many staff, students and volunteers that he came into contact with during his time at Loughborough.

We would like to send our sincere condolences to his wife and daughter and we wish Martin the peace and rest he now deserves.

Martin, you sure did do it: you were & will continue to be an inspiration to many!
