Introducing the School of Social Sciences

As of today (1 August 2018), the School of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences will be known as the ‘School of Social Sciences’.

The name change comes following a successful Quadrennial Review and it looks to capitalise on the University’s global identity and reputation in this area.

The School will be organised around four subject and study areas:

  • Communication and Media
  • Geography and Environment
  • Politics and International Studies
  • Social and Policy Studies

Each of these areas will have a Head of Subject, a Director of Research, and Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programme Directors.

Dean of the School of Social Sciences Professor Nick Clifford commented: “Social Sciences represent one of the foundations of any strong university, and we look forward to developing and sharing in the success of Loughborough University using our new name.”
