Childcare Voucher scheme update

In 2017 the government introduced a new Tax-Free Childcare scheme, with a view to closing existing Childcare Voucher schemes* to new entrants.

The deadline to join a Childcare Voucher scheme is 4 October 2018. You must join and receive vouchers before the deadline if you want to be able to use Childcare Vouchers now or in future.

If you are not yet a member of the University’s childcare voucher scheme (called Computershare) and would like to be, you must order your first vouchers in time to receive them in your September 2018 pay.

If this is something you are considering, it is important that you are aware that the payroll deadline for September is 5 September 2018.

If you are an existing scheme member, you can continue to enjoy the benefits of the Childcare Voucher scheme for as long as you remain an employee of Loughborough University, provided you don’t take a break of more than 52 weeks from receiving vouchers.

For information on how to join the scheme visit the HR website or contact your HR team.

*The Childcare Voucher scheme is a government initiative that allows working parents to exchange a portion of their salary for vouchers before their usual tax and National Insurance (NI) contributions are taken. These vouchers are then used to pay a registered childcare provider and can be used to pay for both one-off and regular childcare arrangements.
