Loughborough University joins Universities UK International campaign

Loughborough University has signed up to be part of a campaign called Go International: Stand Out, which has been developed by Universities UK International (UUKi).

The campaign aims to increase the percentage of undergraduate students who go abroad as part of their studies by the year 2020.

By signing up to the campaign, the University has pledged to commit to four key principles. These are:

  • To increase the number of UK students who study, volunteer or work abroad as part of their programme
  • Promote the value of studying, working and volunteering abroad – for example research has shown students who go abroad as part of their studies are less likely to be unemployed after graduation and more likely to achieve a 2:1 or 1st class honours
  • Create more opportunities for all students from different types of background to be able to study, work or volunteer abroad
  • Improve the collection and reporting of students who go abroad during their studies to provide in-depth analysis and continue research on the benefits of students having an international experience.

Additionally, Loughborough University has pledged to start up new mobility programmes across Europe and internationally; offer financial support in the form of travel grants and bursaries; engage with mobile alumni; and identify academics who will champion travelling abroad on an undergraduate programme.
