Student Volunteering Week: staff invited to get involved with woodland project

Do you want to spend more time outdoors and improve your health and wellbeing? Do you want to do your bit to give back?

Well now may be your chance, as the Sustainability team are looking for staff volunteers on Wednesday 21 February to help with conservation work in the on-campus woodlands.

You will need to be available between 12:45pm and 3:30pm and tasks will involve coppicing hazel, building habitat piles and clearing any unwanted brash.

Volunteers will be required to meet at the top of Holywell Car Park, and it is recommended you wear sensible clothing and footwear.

Staff are able to apply for up to one working day each year (or pro-rata for staff who work part time) to undertake volunteer work as approved by their line manager.

The woodlands project is part of the LSU's Student Volunteering Week, which is to run from Monday 19 February – Sunday 25 February.

From dog walking to gardening, working at the on-campus nursery to teaching IT skills to the elderly, there’s something for every student to get involved in.

And there’s even the opportunity to get a selfie with an alpaca!

Students wanting more information on the week or wanting to book onto one of the activities should visit the LSU webpages.

Staff interested in the woodland project should contact Jemma at Enviroassist@lboro.ac.uk for more details.
