Maddy Prior to perform in Loughborough as part of musical trio

Renowned folk singer Maddy Prior will be taking to the stage at Loughborough University later this month.

The talented Steeleye Span vocalist – whose 50 years in the industry has seen her work alongside some of the most exceptional musicians in the world - will be at Martin Hall on Wednesday 18 April.

Maddy will be accompanied by accordion player, singer and clog dancer Hannah James and multi-instrumentalist Giles Lewin (Bellowhead, Carnival Band).

The musical trio will be performing some of Maddy’s earlier and more notable works plus songs that explore the theme of England, the British Isles and Eastern Europe.

From their debut album 3 for Joy and their latest record Shortwinger; a collection of fourteenth-century poems, tales of the industrial revolution and folk mythology will also be sang on the night in a daring acoustic style not to be missed. 

The concert is one of many exciting events taking place as part of LU Arts’ Spring/Summer programme.

The concert will take place on Wednesday 18 April from 7:30pm at Martin Hall, Loughborough University.
