Run the London Marathon with #TeamAutism

Two places are available for Loughborough University staff members to take part in next year’s London Marathon for the National Autistic Society.

The Virgin London Marathon is one of the most famous running events in the world and takes place on 22 April 2018, with 35,000 runners expected to take part this year.

Anyone interested in running as part of #TeamAutism should contact Rachael Lynch from the National Autistic Society via email (rachael.lynch@nas.org.uk) or by telephone (020 7903 3589). You will need to mention you are a Loughborough member of staff in your subject line when emailing.

The places are on a first come, first served basis and there is a £100 registration fee required alongside a minimum sponsorship of £2000. In addition to the standard information pack runners will also receive:

  • Fundraising and training guide
  • Dedicated fundraising support from Events Officer Rachael Lynch
  • Charity top with personalised iron on letters
  • Access to a training and fundraising day in London
  • Invitation to the pasta-party the night before the race with #TeamAutism
  • A post-race reception in the May Fair hotel with showers, massages, food and photos. Friends and family are welcome too!

Previous marathon runner, Rachel Verralls said: “Running the London Marathon for The National Autistic Society was one of the best things I have ever done in my life. The support I received made the day an unforgettable experience that will stay in my heart forever.”

Over 700,000 people in the UK are on the autism spectrum. The National Autistic Society aims to support and educate people with autism, their families as well as the general public.

If you are unable to make the London Marathon, The National Austistic Society also has spaces available for the New York Marathon in November 2018. If you are interested in taking part, contact Rachael with the details above for more information including registrations forms and terms and conditions.
