Cyber security best practice award for University

The University has been awarded the Cyber Essentials Plus certification.

Cyber Essentials is a Government-backed and industry supported scheme to guide organisations in protecting themselves against online threats.

Co-ordinated through the IT Department, this certification means that the University is able to demonstrate it adheres to best practice in cyber security.  It is validation of the high quality technical protection systems in place across campus and the way the University provides resources and guidance to staff and students around cyber threats.

For many Government departments the accreditation is a mandatory requirement for partners, so the accreditation will also support the University’s academics seeking to work with Government on research projects.

The certification also demonstrates that the University is working closely to the ISO27001 international standard for information security management.
