Fruit Routes Tree Pruning Event 17 March

As part of the ongoing Fruit Routes programme, the Sustainability team invite staff and students to learn how to prune fruit trees on Friday 17 March.

Marc Richmond, a fruit tree specialist, will be on hand to advise participants on how to look after fruit trees properly, including how and when to prune in order to get the best from them.

This free event is a great opportunity to try something new, improve skills, or simply visit the award winning fruit route on campus this spring.

As this is a practical workshop, attendees are advised to bring wellies and secateurs. A free lunch of soup and bread will be provided.

Timings for the event are as follows:

  • 11am-1pm: Pruning at the Barefoot Orchard (opposite Pilkington Library)
  • 1pm-2pm: Lunchtime pruning and Tree Talk
  • 2pm-4pm: Tree Pruning around the rest of the route

Those attending are welcome to get involved with all or part of the activities on the day.
