New Year, New You – staff encouraged to take advantage of benefits for a happy and healthy 2017

According to research, if you made a New Year’s resolution it’s likely that you may have already broken it before January is over. However, the University has a number of ways to support sustainable changes for a healthier, happier you.

Staff are being encouraged to take advantage of the benefits, services and support available to improve health and wellbeing all year round.

Loughborough Sport

Campus has the country’s largest concentration of high-quality sports training facilities, including two campus gyms, the 50m swimming pool and a range of fitness classes. Staff can also join in with a free My Lifestyle activity session. Further details, including staff discount rates, can be found on the Loughborough Sport website or by contacting the Sports Reception on 01509 226250.

Training and Development

Ongoing learning and development is beneficial for us all in feeling confident and satisfied in our work. There are a number of staff development opportunities available to help foster a culture of quality and excellence for everyone. Details of courses and programmes available can be found on the Staff Development website.

Library and Arts

Explore new interests and hobbies in 2017. Employees have access to the incredible facilities at Pilkington Library and can borrow up to 35 items in one period – how’s that for a reading challenge?

Try out a new art experience at LU Arts, with a packed programme full of music, theatre, contemporary art, comedy and more. Staff can also get involved and try their hand at art and craft, with a range of tuition and classes available.

Confide Service

Confide is a staff support service which offers advice and guidance to anyone who might be facing problems at work. The University takes the matter of harassment and bullying very seriously. Anyone who has concerns can contact Confide here.

Trade Unions

Trade Unions can offer you support when difficulties arise at work. There are a number of different Unions represented at Loughborough, which vary depending on job role and grade. Details on which union you can join, and how, can be found here. Staff can also contact HR for more information.
