Arts exhibitions running at University next week

Foundation students from the School of the Arts, English and Drama and second year undergraduate students from Joshibi University in Japan are showcasing a specialist postcard exhibition next week.

The exhibition, which can be seen on campus from Monday 20 February to Friday 24 February, will see students produce 200 postcards aligned to this year’s theme ‘transience’.

Students from Joshibi University are flying over from Japan to participate in the artistic debut. All of the postcards will be for sale at the exhibition with proceeds going to the Rainbow Hospice.

As part of their time in Loughborough, Japanese students are also showcasing a solo exhibition as part of ‘Resonance’, which is another branch of the programme with the Joshibi University of Art and Design. Students will be displaying their artwork which is particularly focused on oil painting and printmaking. Students took on the role of curators, and organized the exhibition. They selected artworks related to a set theme and learned how to display works.

A private viewing of Resonance will take place tonight between 5 – 8pm at the Martin Hall Exhibition space.

Next week’s Transience exhibition can be seen at the University’s Fine Art Gallery in the Edward Barnsley Building from 10am  - 4pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
