Introducing the Employee Assistance Programme

Members of staff across the University can now take advantage of the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).

This initiative is part of the University’s commitment to provide support for staff wellbeing and comes in response to issues highlighted in last year’s staff survey. The service will complement the University’s existing staff counselling and occupational health services.

The EAP is free and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Information is available through an online portal and a telephone helpline. Unlimited support is available on any matter that might be of concern to you – from mental health and wellbeing, through to legal, relationship and money matters. Help is given by accredited counsellors or information specialists, depending on whether the need is for emotional or practical support.

The online portal provides a secure and personalised website designed to offer self-help.  It includes access to a range of factsheets, surveys, podcasts, a health risk assessment tool, as well as links to other useful websites.

The University has partnered with an external organisation to introduce the service and it is independent from the University and completely confidential.

All staff will shortly receive further information about the EAP, including a flyer and handy pocket sized card to keep for future reference.
