Volunteers needed for University Open Days
The University-wide open days attract around 30,000 visitors to the Loughborough campus each year and are thus a crucial part of the University’s student recruitment activity. Four days are held annually to enable Year 12 students and their families to visit academic departments, talk to staff and students, view accommodation and find out more about sport, recreational activities and why Loughborough is one of the leading universities in the country. This year bookings have increased by 62% when compared to this point last year.
The dates of the September Open Days are Friday 22 September and Saturday 23 September.
Given the scale and importance of the events we are heavily reliant on the support provided by staff from across the institution. We are looking for a number of volunteers from Professional Services to help with this year’s events.
Examples of the tasks that we will be looking for support with on the open days include the following:
- Staffing welcome desks
- Registering students
- Directing visitors and providing information about the event
- Assisting crowd management during our most popular presentations
- Helping with car parking and getting visitors onto buses/coaches
A detailed event briefing will be provided so that volunteers are clear what is happening when and where, as well as what their role entails. Staff from the Student Recruitment, Marketing and Admissions team and a team of trained student ambassadors will also be on hand.
If you or members of your team are able to help on either, or both, days in September we’d love to hear from you. Please contact Claire Fletcher via the contact information given below with details of your availability. Similarly if you have any questions about the event, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
