IT Information for students

The University’s IT systems are in the process of change and as the new academic year starts there is some important information regarding these changes you need to be aware of.

Future Cloud Office Platform

The University is moving its focus away from Google for Education and is providing both students and staff access to Microsoft’s Cloud Office services. This change is happening over the course of this academic year, starting with students getting access to OneDrive for Business and Office Online from the start of term. These services will initially be offered in line with the existing Google suite, with Google services being phased out at suitable periods over the next three academic years.

For further information and guidance on these new services visit the following webpages:

Removal of Individual Webpages

After extensive consultation across the University it has been agreed that this service no longer offers relevant and suitable functionality and will be removed from operation. This change will happen for the start of the academic year. Any student who had previously used this service will still have access to their content (found in their individual workspace) but will not be able to publish to their webpage. Alternate services that can be used are listed here.

Student Timetables

Student timetables for the 2016-17 academic year will be available from http://www.lboro.ac.uk/services/teaching-support/onlinetimetabling/. As part of the implementation of Microsoft Cloud Office a change will be made to how timetable information is received, this new process will be available for early use from semester 2 however will not replace the existing process until summer 2017. For further information on this change please visit the information webpage http://www.lboro.ac.uk/services/it/student/o365/calendars/.

If you have any questions regarding these changes, please do not hesitate to contact the PC Clinic, School IT or IT Services Helpdesk.
