School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences receive Athena SWAN award renewal

The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences have successfully had their Athena SWAN Silver award renewed.

The award was first presented to the school in 2012. It recognises the school’s commitment to addressing gender inequalities in science and improving career progression for female academics.

Launched in 2005, and run by the Equality Challenge Unit (ECU), Athena SWAN helps universities and research institutions to create more equitable working environments for women in STEMM and rewards institutions that are making positive steps. Loughborough was one of the founding members of the Athena SWAN Charter.

Professor Mark Lewis, Dean of the School, said: “We are delighted to have had our Athena SWAN Silver award renewed. The award recognises our School’s significant and continued achievement and activity in promoting gender equality and in addressing challenges from undergraduate to professorial level.”
