Free breakfast roll for staff choosing sustainable travel options on Open Days

The University is set to hold its summer Open Days later this week (24-25 June) and staff are being asked to consider what they can do to help alleviate traffic on campus.

Ahead of the summer Open Days, the University is experiencing a significant amount of interest from prospective students and their families.

While this is fantastic news for Loughborough, it does mean that a significant amount of increased traffic on campus is expected, particularly on Friday.

There are a number of ways in which staff can help to reduce the amount of vehicles on campus by adjusting their usual routines of getting to work.

Sustainable ways of getting to work

For those that do not need a car, cycling, walking or running are good alternative options. Catching the Kinch Bus is another, with free of charge travel along the whole route during the Open Days 7.30am and 6.00pm.

Car Share

If a car is required to get to work, staff are encouraged to consider car sharing with colleagues that live nearby. There will be a number of car parks dedicated for staff parking.

Staff can park in the car parks detailed below:

William Morris Car Park (access from Garendon Road)

Harry French Car Parks (both sides)

The Holt Car Parks

Working from Home

Colleagues who spend some time working from home as part of their usual week and, who are not part of the Open Days, may want to consider moving their work from home day to the Friday. Before doing so, please speak with line managers about how this would work with your schedule and the wider team.

Free breakfast roll

Free breakfast rolls are on offer to those who seek alternative ways of travelling to work (including vegetarian options). These can be redeemed at James France, the EHB or Village Bar until 11.30am on Open Day. Alternatively, the vouchers can also be redeemed after the open days until 1 July.

Student ambassadors in ‘Team Loughborough’ t-shirts will be stationed at the entrance to the car parks and will provide staff with a breakfast voucher. Those choosing sustainable options can collect their voucher from the Hazlerigg Reception desk.
