Important IT information for final year students
IT Services recently communicated information regarding upcoming changes to IT systems and actions to be taken based on the status of individual students.
It is the responsibility of every student to ensure they have any documents and information they may require in the future.
For students who are due to complete their studies soon, their student record will be updated to reflect that they are leaving. As a result of this, student accounts will expire, and access to systems such as email, Learn, Athens and your Documents area (U drive) will lapse.
IT Services cannot specify the exact date that this will happen, as it varies from course to course. However accounts will be extended by 90 days following graduation to provide a suitable window for action.
Prior to accounts expiring, it is the responsibility of all students to carry out the following actions for retrieval of documents in the areas listed below.
Please visit the IT Services help page for information on how to do this. It is recommended that students add this webpage to their web browsers bookmarks or favourites before their account expires.
• Saving data from email accounts
• Saving any material students need access to from Learn
• Checking printing credit balance
• Copying data from the Document Area (U Drive)
It is also recommended that students ensure their personal details such as email address and contact numbers are up to date in the student self-service system, under the ‘Contact Details’ tab.
If you are returning to study in the next academic year this message does not apply to you and you can disregard the information above.
