Staff and students invited to attend the first Student Wordsmith Awards

The Student Wordsmith is set to host its first annual awards at the Loughborough Students’ Union on 16 April 2016.

Graduate and founder of the The Student Wordsmith, Sophie-Louise Hyde, is holding the event to celebrate the hard work of writers and artists who have had their work published in The Student Wordsmith's books and journals.

The evening will include a line-up of performances from special guests and nominees, as well as an exhibition area for guests to meet representatives from creative organisations and network with fellow writers and artists.

The event will start at 6.45pm finishing at approximately 11pm.

Early bird tickets are on sale until 25 January costing £25 which includes dinner, drinks, and access to the exhibition. Tickets purchased after this date will cost the full price of £30.

As part of the awards, a competition will also be running inviting artists, designers and budding events planners to design table centrepieces for the event.

To be considered, your design must be:

  • Based on or inspired by literature, writing or reading
  • Easily replicated across 10-15 tables
  • Produced for £5 or less
  • Less than 2 foot tall when erected
  • Must not include naked flames
