With exams just around the corner, here’s a reminder of the services and support available for you.
Study spaces
In response to your requests, the Library will be open 24/7 for an extended period from Monday 4 January and throughout the exam period.
We know that the Library can get very busy in the run up to and during exams and so we have made plenty of other space available across campus for you to revise and study. There’s an online map and a list of where these spaces are.
This year, Cayley dining hall will also be open to Cayley and Rutherford students after breakfast until 5pm daily. Evening access is available upon request. To use this study space between 7.15pm and 10pm, please contact the duty sub-warden.
If you need computer facilities, there are a number of PC labs across campus that are open to everyone. Have a look online to find your nearest ones. The IT Services website provides real-time information on whether there are computers currently available. Your School will also have computers that you will be able to use – go to Lab Contacts for a list.
As part of LSU Exec’s ‘Keep Calm’ Campaign, there will be additional seating and revision space in LSU for group work and individual learning. This is available as follows:
Monday 4 – Friday 8Jan Room 1 9am – 7pm
Saturday 9and Sunday 10 Jan Cognito 11am – 6pm
Monday 11 – Friday 15 Jan Room 1 9am – 7pm
Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 Jan Cognito 11am – 6pm
Monday 18 and Tuesday 19Jan Room 1 9am – 7pm
Wednesday 20 – Friday 22 Jan Cognito 9am – 7pm
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 Cognito 11am – 6pm
In addition Piazza Café will be open 8:30am – 7pm Monday – Friday and from 9.30am – 4pm Saturday and Sunday. Look out for food and drinks offers.
Specialist IT software and PC clinics
IT Services make a wide range of software available for you to download free of charge, including Office 2013 for Windows and Office 2011 for Mac. Other specialist packages are available at discounted prices. For a full list of everything available, and details of how to download it, go to the IT Services website.
And IT Services can also help through the PC Clinic in Library if you have problems with your laptop or desktop.
Mathematics Learning Support Centres
The University’s two Mathematics Learning Support Centres are open to all Loughborough students. They offer study space with books and computers available, and one-to-one drop-in support with mathematics and statistics.
Personal support
There are lots of people on hand at the University who can help if you feel you need some guidance throughout the exams. The Student Services section offers a range of support, including a counselling service and dyslexia support.
The Students’ Union will also be offering you tips and advice to support you through the exam period, as part of the ‘Keep Calm’ campaign running week commencing 11 January.
