Safety reminders for students over festive period

As the end of term approaches and festive celebrations take place, students are reminded to stay safe and respect their neighbours, both on and off campus.

Here are some tips on staying safe over the Christmas period:

  • Personal safety – Stay safe when you’re out. Be mindful when getting into a taxi to or from a night out. Ensure they are licenced and keep taxi company numbers saved in your phone.
  • Stay together - When going out with friends, stick together and look after one another. If you want to go home, make sure you go with a friend and avoid going home alone.
  •  Be sensible – It’s the season to be jolly, for everyone. Have fun but remember to respect your neighbours. Be mindful of noise levels whether you’re staying in or going out.
  • Keep your property safe – Christmas is a peak time for theft and burglary. Lock your doors, close your windows and keep an eye on your stuff. Don’t leave valuable items out on display.

The University provides 24 hour security and surveillance on campus. If you need to report an incident, please contact the 24 Hours Security Control on 01509 222141.
