Loughborough chosen to host BUCS Midlands Conference Cup Finals

Loughborough University have been named as the hosts for the BUCS Midlands Conference Cup Finals next year.

After a bidding process involving a number of universities, the University was chosen to hold the event which will run on Wednesday 8 March 2017.

The Midlands Conference Cup Finals will see 27 fixtures take place around campus throughout the afternoon.

For the first time ever this year, the multi-sport event will be purely student led, with over 100 student volunteers needed to make the day a success.

Luke Thompson, Sport Executive Officer, who led the bid process, commented: Hosting the finals will present the perfect opportunity to give profile to the exceptional depth of sporting ability we have all the way through the Athletic Union.

This event will be the largest purely student led multi-sport event the AU has ever undertaken, and alongside the Coach and Volunteer Academy we hope to engage thousands of students with volunteering, playing or spectating throughout the day. Alongside being a great developmental opportunity for students, we hope to once again showcase Loughborough as the perfect venue to host large scale sporting events.
