Loughborough neighbourhoods are safest out of region's universities

Loughborough University is located in the safest neighbourhood out of all the universities in the East Midlands new data has found.

The Complete University Guide has revealed the safest and higher-risk university neighbourhoods for student-relevant crimes compiled from official police data.

Loughborough came out as the least crime-prone neighbourhood with the fewest number of incidents reported from May 2014 – April 2015.

At 21.55 incidents per 1,000 population, the East Midlands is just below the national average student-relevant crime rate and is significantly more crime-free than universities in the Greater London region (listed separately from the rest of England and Wales), where the rate is 32.53 per 1,000.

While the offences listed are the three advisedly most relevant to students, the figures relate to all victims, not just students. They are for the areas surrounding universities, not solely for university premises.
