Professor Paul Thomas confirmed as guest speaker for Young Innovators Challenge Awards Evening

Professor Paul Thomas will appear as a guest speaker at the Young Innovators Challenge Awards Evening next week (Friday 22nd May)

This year’s Young Innovators Challenge is engaging students with the STEM subjects of science, technology, engineering and maths.

Now in its third year, the programme is sponsored by global technology company 3M and Loughborough Echo Newspaper. It aims to inspire the next generation of original thinkers.

Students taking part, compete in five challenges including the Super Food, Eco Tech and Make it Move Challenge. Each challenge is targeted at a certain age group, ranging from primary school to A Level students.

Professor Paul Thomas, head of the Chemistry department, was asked to present at the awards evening as a guest speaker by the 3M organisation.

He will give a ten minute presentation asking “What are you dreaming about?” His talk will consider that our society, our wealth, our health and everything we use, and mostly take for granted, arise from the dreams, imaginations and discoveries of great men and women.

During his presentation he will discuss brilliance from the moment humans climbed out of the trees across history to the present day.

The ceremony takes place at Loughborough College Hub from 5:30 – 8:30pm on Friday 22 May.
