NACUE recognises enterprising Loughborough student

Management Sciences student Helen Ots was amongst just three finalists vying for the title of NACUE Young Entrepreneur of the Year last month.

NACUE’s Annual Society Awards celebrate the people who go above and beyond to encourage and support student enterprise.

She was nominated for her tremendous work in organising and managing 24-hour hackathon Social Storm last November which involved more than 100 students from eight universities worldwide.

The international teams developed solutions in response to the UN’s development goal of achieving universal primary education for every child, and closed the two-day event with video-pitches of their ideas to an international panel of business experts.

Emma Bishop, LSU Student Enterprise Engagement Manager, who co-nominated Helen for the Award says: “Helen is an inspiration. Her passion for enterprise and determination to help others achieve their potential is remarkable."

Marina Pickles, the Student and Graduate Enterprise Manager, adds: “Social Storm was a huge success and is set to become an annual fixture. My thanks and best wishes to Helen as she prepares for her final year exams.”
