University funding helps staff involved in community groups

Loughborough University has supported ten local community groups in its latest round of community donations.

Donations were made from the Inside Out Fund, which is dedicated to helping members of staff who are involved in community or voluntary groups outside of work. 

More than £4000 was awarded as part of the Inside Out Fund. By the end of the year, the University will have donated £200,000 to help and support local groups. 

Vice Chancellor, Robert Allison, presented the cheques at the ceremony held earlier this week.

The organisations and projects receiving funding included:

 2nd Shepshed Rainbow Unit

 Purchase resources so Rainbows can take  part in arts/crafts, cooking and play games

 Transition Loughborough

 Expand cycle repair into town particularly to  unemployed job seekers

 Loughborough Sea Cadets  (TS  VENOMOUS)

 Purchase rowing OARS/Rowlock socket –  used regularly in the Sea Cadets/Trinity  rowing boat

 Outwoods Cricket Club

 Purchase specific equipment to help juniors  with their bowling accuracy

 Loughborough Charnwood  Old  Boys Cricket Club

 Purchase mobility cricket nets to use on  training days and improve overall safety

 Loughborough Mela Group

 To fund the publicity and volunteer expenses  for the event taking place in the town centre

 Barrow Runners

 Develop Prestwold 10km, improve  experience/develop construction on the  airfield site

 10th Loughborough Brownies

 Fund Saturday activities on summer holidays  for Brownies/cover transport for summer trip

 Kingston Vale Gymnastics  Club

 Purchase additional equipment for preschool  and disability classes this year

 Library Local Studies/History  and Heritage   

 Purchase of a camera
