Graduate’s climate control gloves get crowdfunded

Sports Technology Ross Weir has smashed his Kickstarter target and raised almost double the funds he needs to launch his innovative running glove with built-in climate control.

His Flux glove concept attracted pledges worldwide, with media interest including Sky News widespread praise on running and design blogs. International athlete Ellie Stevens sprinted to victory in her prototype pair to win the Midlands Cross Country Team prize at the weekend.

Having reached his funding target so far ahead of schedule, Ross was able to add some exciting stretch goals to the original concept glove which weighs less than 6 grams. Next month, Flux’s backers will receive 5,000 gloves with extra features including reflective and personalised detailing and a thicker knit for sub-zero temperatures. Ross is already working on a cycling-specific Flux glove.
