Dr Whitaker invited to attend WSIE 2014

Jo Whitaker

Dr Joanne Whitaker – the University’s Head of Intellectual Property Commercialisation – has been selected as an Ambassador to the World Summit on Innovation & Entrepreneurship (WSIE) to be held in New York, 28-30 September.

The event brings together Heads of State, entrepreneurs, executives, designers, scientists and technologists from across the globe to consider "The Innovation Trilemma" and explore how to use “creativity as a catalyst for business growth and social wellbeing, mobility as a transformation tool, and livability as a driver for sustainable products, experiences and communities”.

Among the event’s international partners are the United Nations Office for Partnerships, The Coca-Cola Company, and Toyota – and US Secretary of State, John Kerry, has described the event as “important to economic growth and development.”

Dr Whitaker acknowledges that: “It is an honour to have been invited to attend the Summit. I am very much looking forward to the range of presentations on offer as well as participating in the roundtable discussions and networking opportunities. I will certainly be proud to promote the University’s enterprise and research at every opportunity!”
