Loughborough prof receives Academy honour

Honorary professor James Goodwin has been named an Academician by the Academy of Social Sciences.

Professor Goodwin, a Visiting Professor in the Physiology of Ageing in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences (SSEHS) and head of research at Age UK, is one of 28 leading social scientists to receive the award from the Academy.

This year’s recipients have a wide range of expertise in the social sciences, including education, geography, social work, gerontology, law, sociology, economics and psychology.

The Academy of Social Sciences is the national Academy of academics, learned societies and practitioners in the social sciences. It has over 900 individual Academicians, who are distinguished scholars and practitioners from academia and the public and private sectors. They are given this status after a peer group has reviewed the standing and impact of their work.
