Professor judges inaugural sports technology awards
Professor Andy Harland, director of the Sport Technology Institute, was a judge at the first-ever, global Sports Technology Awards.
Professor Harland was joined on the prestigious panel by a host of sporting luminaries, including Loughborough graduate Sir Clive Woodward.
The awards celebrate the world’s best and most innovative technological inventions. Entries were received from a range of countries including Austria, Holland, Finland, Turkey, Italy, South Africa, the USA and Australia.
The shortlist of 80 companies – which are a mix of technology companies, sporting bodies and clubs, as well as large global brands – include adidas, BT Sport, O2, BBC Match of the day, Turkish Airlines, Sky Sports, William Hill and IBM.
The winners will be announced on 4 April.
