Three gymnasts with Loughborough connections have been selected for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

London 2012 Olympic Games bronze medallist Sam Oldham has been selected to represent England. Sam utilises the Gymnastics Centre on campus as a training base.

Loughborough Students’ Gymnastics Club members Robert Sansby and Harry Owen have been selected by Wales. Both have represented their country at the Commonwealth Youth Games and at UK School Games events.

Harry is studying Foundation Sports Coaching at Loughborough College and Robert a BSc in Sports Technology and the University.
Speaking of his selection Robert Sansby said:

“It’s always been my target to go to this competition. It’s a massive achievement for anyone and I knew I had the potential to qualify.

I’ve suffered from injuries in the past so to come back from the setbacks, and work really hard to perform the way I know I could this year, it’s unbelievable.”

The artistic gymnastics events take place from 28 July – 1 August.
