School IT Co-ordinators (SITC's) speak on behalf of the Schools in discussions on IT matters. This might be with IT ServicesServices Executive, IT Purchasing Groups, IT project groups and IT forums. They monitor and comment upon IT service delivery on services that are provided by IT Services.

Some of the responsibilities of the SITC role are detailed below

  • Overall responsibility for ensuring Schools' IT strategies and policies are in line with wider University Strategy, plans and policies.
  • Deliver savings and improve service resilience by improving process in relation to shared IT resources.
  • Be responsible for Schools' responses to central IT initiatives, ensuring their relevance to users.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the service delivery provided by the University's central IT provision.
  • Meet to discuss strategy and policy, and discuss operational IT issues as required; ensure that such policies flow down across all Schools.
  • Co-ordinate School-level liaison with Central Service Desk to ensure generic support functions are delivered in a consistent manner across the Schools.
  • Work with IT Services on the development of University-wide systems and policies and to provide a holistic view of all University IT projects to ensure users' needs are met and best VFM is delivered.
  • Be the primary escalation point of non-routine contact between Schools and Central IT Services, including mediation in disputes where appropriate.
  • Take a leading role (with Finance and IT Services) in IT purchasing policies and practice across the University, ensure VFM is achieved in this area of significant investment.
  • To advise on the prioritisation of IT capital expenditure within Schools, building consensus among Deans and Operations Managers.
  • Represent Schools at the University IT Committee, IT Purchasing Group, and/or other University related committees as required.
  • Represent Schools on Project Management Boards for major IT projects, ensuring the user voice and perspective is given due prominence.
  • Represent the University on various regional/national committees/working parties.
  • To lead inter-School co-operation in IT matters as required and ensure that the best possible IT service is available to all Schools.
