Kinematics of a Particle - Curvilinear Motion: Rectangular Coord

  1. A particle P is traveling around a circular path such that at the instant considered, the speed is 3m/s and increasing at 4m/s2.  Calculate the magnitude of the particle's acceleration at this instant.

    Answer:  a = m/s2

  2. When t = 0, s = 0.5, v = 1m/s.  If v = (3t + 1) m/s, where t is in seconds, compute:

    a) the distance s traveled by the particle when t = 1s.

    Answer:  s = m

    b) the speed of the particle when t = 1s.

    Answer:  v = m/s

    c) the acceleration of the particle when t = 1s.

    Answer:  a = m/s2

  3. When s = 0, v = 0.  If at = (4s) m/s2, where s is in meters,

    calculate:

    a) the particle's speed when s = 1m.

    Answer:  v = m/s

    b) the magnitude of acceleration when s = 1m?

    Answer:  a = m/s2
  4. A particle is traveling along the parabolic path with a constant speed of 2m/s.

    a) Determine the radius of curvature r (roa) at A.

    Answer:  r = m

    b) What is the particle's acceleration at A.

    Answer:  a = m/s2
