Emma Britton, graduated from Loughborough in 2008 but struggled to find work in her chosen career path as a textile designer. Following several unpaid work placements, she changed direction and decided to set up her own business.
Emma combined her background in print design with new found skills, acquired while working at a local glass company, to create a stunning collection of floral glass kitchen and bathroom splash backs, inspired by British suburbia.
Emma is also part of the aa2a (Artists Access to Art College) scheme running at the Loughborough School of the Arts where local artists are granted full access to the school’s facilities in order to further their work.
Her business won two awards in the 2011 Student and Graduate Business Plan Competition which recognised 13 enterprising students and graduates from Loughborough University whose commercial ventures are already creating a buzz. Emma walked away with overall second prize of £2,000 and The Gill Cooke Award of £500.
Emma plans to move onwards and upwards and really push her business forward with more “off the shelf” products lines whilst also offering her design talents to create individual, bespoke commissions for individual clients.
