Leicestershire County Council's Waste Management Team has an ongoing relationship with the Graduate Gateway team at Loughborough.

Three full-time employees on the team started work at the council through the Graduate Gateway scheme. Matt Curtis is the latest employee to be taken on.

Matt was taken on to carry out a two-part project to promote the department’s Food Waste Digester campaign and to help compile a benefits assessment report.

Under the Graduate Gateway programme, graduates are hand-picked to take part in a 26-week placement at a company, working on a specific project. When the project is complete, around 75 per cent of graduates are offered permanent jobs with the company.

"Graduate Gateway gives us access to candidates who are, in our experience, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. They have been specially selected for us and will have the right skills set for the task in hand. We find this very useful," said project manager James O'Brien.
