of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia visit to the IMCRC
IMCRC Director Prof. Andrew Baldwin presents the Loughborough University Crest to the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia.
On Tuesday 12 April 2011, the IMCRC welcomed Graduates and staff from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia. The visit was organised by the British Council as part of the delegation's nine day visit to the UK.
The guests were welcomed to the University by Prof. Chris Backhouse, Director of Internationalisation Strategy who provided an overview of the institution's 100 year history, achievements in research, links with industry and ranking as one of the country's leading universities.
The visitors were presented with a sample of the research activities being carried out by the IMCRC, including: a visit to a laboratory in the Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering highlighting work by Prof. Shahin Rahimifard in Sustainable Manufacturing; a presentation by Prof. Robert Harrison on a new type of software engineering tool to support the rapid configuration and modification of automotive engine assembly; and concluded by a visit to state-of-the-art Regenerative Medicine facilities, hosted by Prof. David Williams.
Special thanks is extended to Abdulaziz Alghamdi, a PhD Student in the Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and King Fahd graduate who assisted the Centre on the day with hospitality.
