IMCRC Researchers April Seminar - Summary

Thank you to everyone who attended the Seminar on Tuesday the 13th of April.

Scott Doak, Director of the Loughborough Materials Characterization Centre (LMCC) presented a very useful overview of the analysis equipment available in the Centre. Scott described the facilities available for both polymer and metals characterisation, whilst also demonstrating the wide range of analyses available from thermal to high powered microscopes. These facilities are available to researchers, so, if you have a requirement please contact Scott via the Centre's web site.

Invited speaker, Dr Dan Toon

Dan is an accomplished and experienced Research Associate in the Sports Technology Research Group at Loughborough University. He is also an EPSRC 'noisemaker' and has experience of publicising his work with the media, including the BBC. After completing a BEng in Product Design at Loughborough, he pursued his passion for sport and design by completing a PhD on the flagship IMCRC funded 'Elite to High Street (E2HS)' project, focusing on the engineering of sprint footwear. Dan will present an overview of this ground breaking research and the work carried out at the Loughborough Sports Technology Institute (STI).
