In the Times Good University Guide 2010 all five of the Faculty's departments were ranked in the UK top 10 for their individual subject areas.
In the 2008 Government Research Assessement Exercise (RAE), over two thirds of our research activity is 'internationally excellent' or 'world-leading' (3* and 4*); that equates to 150 academic staff leading some of the UK's very best engineering research. We cover a broad range of engineering disciplines and have an international reputation in many areas of our teaching and research.
Our close links with industry ensures that our graduates are highly sought after and helps us to generate around £20Million in industrially-focused research projects each year.
The Faculty has a number of research groups and research centres including the Innovative Manufacturing and Construction Research Centre (IMCRC) which is the biggest of its kind in the UK.
In addition to hosting the Higher Education Academy's Engineering Subject Centre (engsc) which provides support for learning and teaching to the whole of UK higher education engineering community, we also run the UK's only Engineering Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (engCETL), providing further links with industry and extra support for our students.
