| Loughborough University has a strong tradition of teacher education and a history of successfully producing teachers who are in great demand by schools and colleges in the UK and overseas. Loughborough was placed in the top ten (9th) out of 73 higher education institutions in the 'Good Teacher Training Guide 2008-09'. The ratings were based on three factors: entry qualifications, Ofsted inspection outcomes and employment statistics. Loughborough scored particularly highly on the percentage of trainees known to be in teaching the January after completing their training (3rd place out of 73 institutions).
The Loughborough Post-Graduate Certificate in Education course contributes towards a third of a masters degree. Individuals wanting to complete the masters degree can do so on a part-time basis during their early teaching career.
