New book provides guidance for teachers and educators on promoting active lifestyle in schools

Dr Jo Harris and Professor Lorraine Cale from the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences have published a new book on ‘Promoting Active Lifestyles in Schools’.

Getting children to be active has become increasingly more difficult in recent years, with the government recommending "active lessons" as a way for schools to boost physical activity levels. This is also at a time when the educational benefits of activity (such as improved attention and motivation) are better understood.

This research-informed and evidence-based book from Dr Harris and Professor Cale has been written for primary and secondary teachers, teacher educators, student teachers and professionals working in health and activity promotion.

It is information rich and features tried and tested practical learning activities; it is also accompanied by an online resource that includes quizzes, printable worksheets, case studies and assessment tools.
