Jerry Bingham (Head of Ethics, UK Sport) Jerry Bingham joined UK Sport when it was established in January
1997 after working for seven years in the former GB Sports Council's
Central Policy Unit, where, among other responsibilities, he played
a substantial role in the campaign for a National Lottery. Jerry
manages UK Sport's research and ethics programmes, in all respects
seeking to ensure that policy decisions are based on sound evidence.
As well as the SPLISS project, Jerry is currently managing a major
longitudinal study of the values and attitudes of talented young
athletes, and is involved in discussions with a range of organisations
about developing a coordinated programme of research around London
2012. Jerry has a background in local government and, in the early
nineties, worked as a freelance sports reporter on the Independent
on Sunday. Jerry is also an avid Spurs fan - and therefore currently
in a state of high anxiety!
