Centre for Olympic Studies and Research

Welcome to the Centre for Olympic Studies & Research, based at Loughborough University.

The Centre is a joint initiative of Loughborough University and the British Olympic Foundation and was founded in July 2004 in order to develop the field of Olympic research. It is one of a network of Olympic research centres. Other major Olympic research centres are based at:

The focus of the Centres and Research is on research relating to Olympism, Olympic Games, the Olympic Movement, and Olympic sport.

The Director of the Centre is Professor Ian Henry.

The members of the board are Ms Jan Paterson (Director of the British Olympic Foundation), Mr. Richard Palmer CBE (British Olympic Foundation) and Professor Barrie Houlihan (Loughborough University).
