WELCOME to COS&R, the Centre for Olympic Studies & Research,
based at Loughborough University. COS&R is a joint initiative
of Loughborough University and the British Olympic Foundation.
COS&R was founded in July 2004 in order to develop the field
of Olympic research. It is one of a network of Olympic research
centres. Other major Olympic research centres are based at:
- Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
- University Technology Sydney
- Beijing Sports Unviersity
- University of Western Ontario
- German Sport University Cologne
The focus of the Centres and Research is on research relating to
Olympism, Olympic Games, the Olympic Movement, and Olympic sport.
The Director of COS&R is Professor Ian Henry.
The members of the board are Ms Jan Paterson (Director of the British
Olympic Foundation), Mr. Richard Palmer CBE (British Olympic
Foundation) and Professor Barrie Houlihan of Loughborough
University.
