PhD student


Yeon graduated with a BA Sport and Leisure Studies from Yonsei University, South Korea. Prior to joining Loughborough University, he was working at Korea Anti-doping Agency and he went to London to undertake an MSc Sport Management at Birkbeck College, University of London in 2013. He completed his MSc in Sport Management in 2014 and continues to study for a PhD at Loughborough University.  


Title: States’ Soft Power Strategies: A Case Study of Sport Events Hosting in South Korea and the UK

Yeon’s research focusses on relationship between sport and diplomacy, in particular, sport as a tool of soft power. His research aims to analyse the use of sport and international sports events as part of soft power strategies in South Korea and the UK.
