Lin Cherurbai Sambili Gicheha graduated from the International University of Monaco (IUM) in 2013 with a Master’s degree in Sustainable Peace through Sport (MSPS). This was an innovative degree jointly designed by experts in the field of peace, sport and academia to equip students with specific skills and knowledge in Sports for Development and Peace (SDP).
Prior to obtaining her Master’s degree, Lin worked with the United Nations in New York with the Department of Political Affairs (Electoral Assistance Division) and was a UN Volunteer with the United Nations Office for Partnerships (UNOP) where she provided technical and operational support on various initiatives and high-level forums on sustainable development.
Lin is the Director of Programs with Sports with A Goal Africa (SWAGA). SWAGA is a grassroots sports organisation in Kenya that uses sport to Reach-Connect and Empower both individuals and communities with opportunities through sport. On the academic front, she served as a Tutorial Fellow with the Department of Management Science in Moi University where she taught sports related modules.
Lin is a Commonwealth Scholar and commenced her PhD studies at Loughborough University in October 2016.
Lin’s research focuses on the Role of Sport in Countering Radicalisation with specific focus to Kenya.
