Prior to becoming a PhD researcher at Loughborough University in 2015, Carmen achieved an MSc in Sport Management at Loughborough University (2014) and BA in Translation and Pedagogy (dual study) at University of Maribor, Slovenia (2012).

Carmen's sporting achievements include being a member of the Slovenian National Team in Artistic Gymnastics (2005-present), an international judge and a coach in Women's Artistic Gymnastics. She has participated at 5 World Championships, 5 World Student Games, 2 European Championships, 2 Mediterranean Games, World Cup and Grand Prix competitions etc.


Project title: Development and Evaluation of the Elite Sport Policy in Slovenia

For a small and relatively young country, Slovenia tends to do well at major international sporting competitions. The research is aimed to study the policies behind its sporting successes and failures. More specifically, the thesis seeks to investigate the developmental process, contemporary context and effectiveness of the elite sport policy in the post-independent Slovenia.
