Loughborough's Director of Teacher Education awarded HEA Principal Fellow status
Loughborough University's Dr Jo Harris has been awarded the status of Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
The Higher Education Academy (HEA) is the national body for enhancing learning and teaching in higher education.
The HEA Principal Status is awarded to highly experienced members of staff whose academic careers are combined with substantial strategic responsibilities in connection with key aspects of teaching and supporting learning.
Dr Harris joined Loughborough University in 1990 as a lecturer in Physical Education. She became Director of Physical Educaion Teacher Education in 1997 and has been Director of Teacher Education since 2002. During this time, Jo has led three consecutive Ofsted inspections in which teacher education at Loughborough University has been judged to be 'outstanding'.
She is the first member of academic staff at Loughborough University to achieve Principal Fellow status.
