Psychology student, Jordan, has a lot to be proud of
Last week we celebrated the success of School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences students at our graduation ceremony.
For everyone, earning a degree is a milestone achievement - and one to be justly proud of.
For Psychology student Jordan Elliott King the achievement was even more significant, as she balanced studying for her degree with raising her young child. She told us:
"I am honoured to be graduating from Loughborough University. Three years ago it seemed an impossible feat and many didn't believe that as a brand new mother I could do it. However, with the support of the University, my friends and family, I been not only been able to graduate, but have also made great leaps towards a career in psychology that my son can be proud of."
Jordan went on to praise the support provided by the on-campus nursery, her lecturers and her personal tutor Dr Hilary McDermott.
Jordan also managed to represent Loughborough University and Leicester Riders in Basketball during her time at university.
"I am very proud of my academic accomplishments and my achievements as a member of such a successful few years of Loughborough Basketball too. Being at Loughborough was very inspiring and enjoyable. And the Students' Union can take massive credit for making the University fun for every student."
She has chosen to stay on at Loughborough to study the MRes in Psychology, which she will undertake alongside her part-time occupation as a Healthcare Assistant. Jordan concluded:
"I would recommend Loughborough to prospective students and can't thank the University enough for the time I have had so far."
