Sociology
Sociology at Loughborough is very popular and we receive many applications for our approximately 40 places each year.
Entry Requirements
A levels
A Level – 300 points, from three subjects at A2 level, or two subjects at A2 and two at AS level.
We do not recommend or favour any particular subjects over others and we accept General Studies as one of your subjects.
Normally all candidates to whom we wish to make an offer will have the opportunity to visit the University to look over the attractive campus and to talk to staff and current students about the degree course.
Other qualifications
We welcome applications from students with BTEC and VCE qualifications, the Scottish Certificate of Education, Open University foundation course credits and the International and European Baccalaureates. Here results should be equivalent to those required for A levels.
Mature students
We warmly welcome applications from mature students. Here a wider range of criteria for entry can be considered, including relevant work experience and Access course qualifications. Please write directly to the Programme Director if you have any queries (details below).
Overseas Applicants
We welcome applications from students resident outside the UK who may wish to study for the degree or to take modules for one or two semesters. The University’s modular system facilitates the easy transfer of module credits for overseas degrees. Please contact the Programme Director if you have any queries (details below).
