David Deacon has recently secured a funding allocation of £18,000 from the Research Capital Investment Fund to finance a major extension of the CRC's historical archive of British national press coverage of General Elections. The largest slice of the funding has been used to purchase microfilm copies of all editions of the Daily Telegraph, Daily Herald/ Sun, Daily Mail and Daily Express published in the two months preceding every British General Election since 1918. The bid has also financed the purchase of the latest microfilm reader that permits the scanning of films into a digital format.
